The MURAL!
The Irving Community Mural project is in the final stages. We’ve cleaned the wall and next we’ll be preparing the surface for the paint. The above picture is a preview of what the final design will look like on the Grange wall. Click on the design above to see a larger picture of the mural design. You can help us add character and beauty to our neighborhood by joining us at our PAINT PARTY on July 6th. Scroll down to sign up.

The design for the Irving Grange Community Mural was inspired by conversations with neighbors and Grange members. There were many ideas and themes that came up, too numerous for oneĀ mural. The image before you was chosen from several designs and refined after discussion among Grange and community members.
The intention of the mural is to consider sense of place, reflect on the agricultural history of the area and to celebrate the diverse neighborhood that the Irving area is becoming.
Details on the right side of the mural include a depiction of an Irving historic schoolhouse and the Irving train station adapted from photos provided by the Eugene Historical Museum. A child peaks around a tree to glimpse the past. The children on the left are playing in front of the neighborhood of today. At the heart of the mural are the themes of transformation and appreciation for natural abundance provided by the land.
Participate!
You have provided your ideas. Now we request your assistance with some good old-fashioned elbow grease! Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4p-6p, in July and August until the mural is finished. Help us get paint on the wall (it’s easier than you think).
Donate!
Help us make this dream come true. We have a fundraising goal of $15,000 that includes materials and the professional artist who will guide the project, paint, and put the final touches on the mural. With the help of volunteers we have been able to keep the project budget low. Your contribution is invaluable, let’s make this happen!
